Training Guide: Navigating the Locative (6. pád)
Active Recall: Static Location & Conversation Topics
The Locative case answers the questions O kom? O čem? (About whom/what?) and Kde? (Where?). Unlike the Accusative, which shows movement, the Locative shows a static position.
Describing the Home:
Use the preposition v (in) to describe rooms: v ložnici, v koupelně, v pokoji. Note how feminine endings often shift to -ě/e or -i.
Topics & People:
When talking "about" someone (o), masculine animate nouns can often take two endings: -ovi or -u (e.g., o sousedovi / o sousedu). Both are correct!
Optimization Strategy:
- ✔ Step 1: Look for the prepositions v, na, o, po, při—these are your Locative triggers.
- ✔ Step 2: Practice soft vs. hard endings, especially for neuter nouns like okno → okně/oknu.
- ✔ Step 3: Once you can locate objects in a room perfectly, proceed to the 📝 Test.
