Study Guide: Understanding the 7th Case (Instrumentál)
Instrumental Case Prepositions and Practical Usage
The Instrumental case (7. pád) is used to express the means by which an action is performed. This vocabulary list highlights the nouns and prepositions that define how we move through and interact with the world.
Means of Transport:
In Czech, we simply change the ending of the vehicle: auto → autem, loď → lodí. It is one of the most practical uses of this case for expats.
Accompaniment:
The preposition s (with) is the hallmark of the 7th case. Whether it's káva s mlékem or jít s kamarádem, the 7th case is required.
