Beyond the Standard Endings
This "Hard Level" assessment targets the verbs that beginners usually struggle with. It moves past the simple -á and -í patterns into irregular stems and consonant changes.
What is tested:
- Irregular Verbs: Být, chtít, jíst, vědět.
- -ovat Verbs: Changes to -uje- (e.g., pracovat -> pracuje).
- Stem Changes: Verbs like psát (píše) or brát (bere).
Modal Verbs:
Be careful with moct (můžu/můžeš) and smět. These are essential for daily A1 communication but tricky to spell.
Success Tips:
- ✔ Identify the Group: Even irregular verbs often follow the -u, -eš, -e or -ím, -íš, -í ending patterns once you find the stem.
- ✔ Negative Forms: Remember that "to not have" is nemít, but "to not be" is není (except for 1st person nejsem).
- ✔ Timer: 10 minutes. This test is designed to see if you can conjugate under pressure without overthinking the irregulars.
Technical Metadata: Dataset grammar_pres_tense_hard_a1. Focuses on irregulars, modals, and shifting-stem verbs.
