Switching Between Tenses
This assessment tests your ability to identify time markers and apply the correct grammatical rules for both the Present Tense (conjugation) and the Past Tense (l-participle + auxiliary verbs).
Present Tense Logic:
- Endings: Match the verb ending to the person (e.g., -ám, -íš, -uje).
- Time Markers: Look for words like teď, dnes, obvykle, v tuhle chvíli.
Past Tense Logic:
- Auxiliary Verbs: Don't forget jsem, jsi, jsme, jste for 1st and 2nd person.
- Gender Agreement: The verb ending changes for Masculine (-l), Feminine (-la), and Neuter (-lo).
- Time Markers: Look for včera, minulý týden, před hodinou.
Top Strategies:
- ✔ Scan for Adverbs: Before you conjugate, find the "Time Anchor" in the sentence to decide the tense.
- ✔ Check the Subject: In the past tense, you must know the gender of the person speaking or being spoken about.
