Training Guide: Expressing Interests
Active Recall: What Do You Enjoy?
Talking about hobbies in Czech requires specific verb constructions. This session focuses on the difference between general activities and specialized interests.
The "Interest" Verbs:
Learn to use zajímat se o (to be interested in) + Accusative. Also, master the verb bavit: Baví mě sport (Sport entertains/interests me).
Instruments vs. Sports:
In Czech, we use hrát na + Accusative for instruments (hrát na housle), but usually just hrát + Accusative for games (hrát šachy).
Optimization Strategy:
- ✔ Step 1: Differentiate between dovolená (work vacation) and prázdniny (school holidays).
- ✔ Step 2: Group verbs of motion: chodit na procházky (walking) vs. jezdit na kole (cycling).
- ✔ Step 3: Once you can describe your koníček, move to the 📝 Test.
